The Melbourne Cup

This is my betting debut and I think I’m just blessed with lady luck. I watched the Melbourne Cup from home but I still backed the winner. $20 each for a win and $5 each for a place on:
2. Delta Blues,
12. Pop Rock and
1. Yates.
And with odds of 17-1 on Delta Blues I came out with $400. It’s not the trifecta but 2/3 is not bad for a first time punter.

I have to be honest though, I like Delta Goodrem and she sings Pop and has blue eyes so that’s why I chose those two. Haha. Yates was just in there because no one on TV would stop talking about him.

This kind of reminds me of when I was in year 7 in Primary School where for Melb Cup each of my class mates had to pull a horse’s name out of a hat and that was ours for the race. We were playing for class points though, and not cash, I got Rogan Josh, which was the winner in that year, 1999. What makes this weirder is that my younger sister’s class did the same thing and she pulled out Rogan Josh as well. Melbourne Cup success must run in the family. I’ll put my tips up next year ;)
