Schoolies

Yesterday I went up to Caloundra where my sister is staying for Schoolies this week with a group of friends. She called me up there to bring her pillow and throw. I took any excuse just to go to the beach. I was officially a ‘toolie’, being 2 years out of high school, but we had a good time none the less.

During the day we went to Mooloolaba beach, we tanned, we swam, we dodged waves and we swam some more until we got caught in a rip. The lifeguards called over the speakers – “Would the two female swimmers caught in the rip swim parallel to the beach to get back in.” by the time they called that out we had already been trying to swim in and were not getting anywhere and our legs were getting tired.

After arguing with my sister saying that we should just put our hands up she eventually agreed and I shot my hand up and so did she. It was so embarrassing – “Ok, we’re coming to retrieve you.” That’s what was announced over the speakers by the lifeguards. The took a couple of minutes to get the Jetski to us and in that time me and my sister started laughing and saying how embarrassing this is and why aren’t they hurrying because our legs are getting tired.

The lifeguard put us on the back of the board and took us back in shore. It was so embarrassing because there were a lot of people at the beach and most of them were other Schoolies too. We left the beach right after and went back to Caloundra where my sister is staying at the Break Free Resort and went into the resort pool and hot spa.

That night we went back to Mooloolaba for a Schoolies dance party that was for 12-18 year olds. I can believe I got in with my sister’s learner licence. It was like a $12 cover charge but the club was total crap. We left after 10 minutes and went back to Caloundra.

I stayed over the night and drove the 1½ hours back this morning. I hope my sister enjoys her last couple of days of Schoolies that is left.
